| | | bubbles in toilet bowl Hi,
I just found this site and am looking forward to exploring it later, but right now I have this problem with the toilet. A large wad of paper was flushed down it and backed it up. I used the plunger and cleared the clog but now when I flush it, bubbles come up in the bowl part and it seems to fill slower than before. It isn't clogged (at least I don't think it is, because it will flush paper ok, just slowly) but the water in the bowl has bubbles come up from inside. Please don't laugh (plumbing really isn't my bailiwick) but I went and flushed the other toilet a couple of times hoping that would have some effect on it but it didn't seem to. I am afraid to let anyone use the toilet for fear that there actually is a clog and that is what the bubbles mean (in spite of the fact that it does flush) so I know that my family will greatly appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you in advance,

Good morning Celeste,
For openers purchase a closet auger, (see image) and auger out the toilet.
If there's still a problem after you auger the toilet click on back. good luck, Tom |

| Bubbles in Toilet bowl Hi Tom,
I finally got to the store and found the auger and used it. The toilet seems to
be flushing OK but it is still 'burping' when it does. Would you suggest I do
something else? We did auger it out a couple of times just to be sure, so I am
not sure what has given the silly thing 'indigestion'. My daughter suggested
baking soda (everyone's a clown!) but I was wondering if you had something more
sensible to suggest. Thank you again for your help. If it weren't for this
site, her idea might have actually gotten a try. You know what they say about
"desperate times".
Thanks again for your help.

| Hi Celeste,
To test afer augering a bowl, take two BIG handfulls TP and flush it down. Do it again. If the toilet begins to back up then you haven't removed the obstruction. The "belch" indicates a partial blockage on down the line. What's happening is that the discharge hitsthe bvlockage and bounces back sending a bubble of air ahead of it. The toilet may have to be pulled and, if there is something caught up in the trap it will have to be fished out.however it's more likely that the clog is farther down rhe line in the toilet drain line in which case the toilet will have to come up and the line snaked out .
Let me know what you find, Tom |
