| Brown water I have been having brown water problems . The water people have been looking into it but they have only found that the chlorine levels have been fluctuating with higher than normal levels in the water. They could not explane why the water was brown in our house. This has been going on for several months now. Today I noticed that the kitchen cold water was not brown but in the rest of the sinks it was brown. I checked my pipes and it looks like the kitchen cold water and the out side fauectes come right from the main water supply but the rest of the water in the house goes thru the water softener. My question is of course what is causing the brown water? I was wondering if it could be a combination of high clorine levels in the water going thru the water softener causing the water to turn brown. I am not 100% sure that the cold water in the kitchen sink was not brown but it did not appear to be like the rest of the house. I am no chemist so I do not understand
what they do to dirinking water and what happens in a water softner. If you have any thoughts on my problem and what I would need to do to correct it I would appreciate it. Thanks for your concern. Bob |
