Broken sink drain pipe underground

we have a broken drain pipe which is under the path down the side of the bungalow.
We have borrowed a kango to break up the concrete to gain access to the damaged part.
Is there anything hat we should know before we start?
Thank you
Regards
Doug Barker

Hey Doug, Not to swift a idea to post your full name on the internet. Lottsa scammers out there.
You didn't say, so I'm guessing the broken pipe is cast iron. First of all you have to determine how much pipe you'll have to replace. Next you'll have to decide whether to replace with cast iron or convert to PVC. Either way I would use shielded couplings,(see image) to connect the npipes together. Good luck, Tom
