    Broken pipe?
    Hi,

    I'm having some problems with my hall bathroom. The toilet backs up, the sinks don't drain right and they back up the toilet.

    I had a plumber come out and he ran a snake down toilet, took off toilet and ran snake and got on roof to run snake down plumbing vent.

    This did not fix the problem and he said he got some mud on end of snake when winding up. He says we probably have a broken pipe and he thinks it's under the master bedroom floor. He wants to use a video camera to go down the pipe to locate the break spot or spots.

    My home is in a southern climate and we have slab, no basement. The home is 50 years old.

    What are my options if he says the pipe is broken and needs to be fixed?

    I can feel for you Rudio,
    I live in a slab house that's 51 years old. If the plumber determines the pipe's broken and admitting dirt into your system you have no options, (except perhaps one). After he pinpoints the location of the break then the furniture gets moved, the rug comes up and the slab gets jackhammered up and the faulty pipe replaced.

    Now that option spoke of. Ask the plumber if he can clear the pipe enough to blow a pipe liner past the break. It's a long shot but better then tearing up your house. Good luck, Tom

    Thank you for the suggestion about the pipe liner. I will talk to the plumber about it.
