Black stuff ? From water pipes
I live in an apartment and in each of my bathrooms I am noticing black gunk accumulating at the water faucets where the water comes out from as well as in my showers. I also just bought a new showerhead about 8 weeks ago and now there is black sediment settling in the little holes that water comes out of. ANY IDEAS?

We need a little more information. Type of piping? Copper? Plastic or galvanized?
Do this for me, Remove the aerator form one of your faucets so the screens don't trap any of the gunk. Now draw a pan full of cold water and a pan full of hot water.
Which pan has the most gunk in it? Let me know, Tom

Hi, I've seen posts about black mastic adhesive, but I'm not sure if that's what I've found. My basement carpet got wet during the nor'easter last weekend when my power went out, preventing my sump pump from working. It wasn't the 1st time this carpet got a soaking (no measurable water, but it...

First noticed the black flecks in the tub when running a bath for a child. It did not happen every time. Thought the shower was okay, but ran the shower into a bucket and it too has the black flecks. What is it and what can be done to get rid of it. These pipes are not galvanized, this place is...

Toilet Has Black Stuff Growing in it [ 1 Answers ]

What would cause black slimy stuff to grow in my husband's toilet. I can clean it, and it begins to grow back in a couple of days. We have a septic tank. The toilet in the other bathroom (farthest from septic tank) doesn't have this problem. Nothing I clean with seems to stop the algae? From...

Black stuff on toilet seat [ 1 Answers ]

Hi this sounds weird but I go to a university and I was in the restroom. After I finished up I turned around to flush the toilet and noticed some sticky looking black stuff on the seat. I had just finished urinating myself. Well I could not tell what this was but did not think it came from me-it...
