Black stuff coming out of tub spigot and shower head
First noticed the black flecks in the tub when running a bath for a child. It did not happen every time. Thought the shower was okay, but ran the shower into a bucket and it too has the black flecks. What is it and what can be done to get rid of it. These pipes are not galvanized, this place is about 25 years old.

Could possibly be as easy as the "O" rings going bad in the valve. Are the fleck metallic? Do they smush out when you touch them?

I am not sure, but I think they are metal, but not galvanized.

Is this the only faucet that the black flecks come out of or is it all over the house? Sounds like you have copper water pipes. Regards, Tom
