Bathtub Faucet

When the faucet is turned towards the hot water side the water quits all together. The cold side works fine. This is a Moen faucet with just the single knob.

One of the plumbing experts may chime in with a better answer, but my guess is that (assuming you DO have hot water) that there is an obstruction somewhere in the hot-water line that feeds this faucet.

If you take the faucet apart, you can examine the seal on the hot side to see if it has clogged up. (Make sure you shut off the water first!)

I would bet the problem is in the faucet, but you can't guarantee that.

Here is a picture to give you a rough idea of what you're looking at.

Good Luck,
WallyH

WalleyHelps is right in his diagnosis but showed you the wrong picture. Remove the handle. If you have the common acrylic knob, use a sharp pointed tool like a knife point and pry out the center cover with the Moen emblem. Remove the handle screw and remove the knob. Slide off the chrome sleave. You should then see a small brass clip that holds the cartridge in place. Remove that. Pull out the cartridge and replace. The cartridge may be difficult to remove because a seal has gotten out of place. Try pulling the stem with plyers. Call 1-800-BUY-Moen for free replacement cartridge.

Gayleen7...Maybe this pic. will help you.

Shut water off and remove the parts in order as in pics. Then clear the cartridge and then pulse the water on/off with rag covering faucet to clear of any debris that may be clogging lines. Clean the cartridge...then reinstall if you want and see if all set.

If not, then need to purchase a new cartridge or as Harold said, could call 1800buymoen and they will send you the part 2 day service for $12.00 shipping/handling...or go to local plumbing supply house and they should have one to get you up and running. Anyway, I just popped in to give you the pic.

Hope the pic. helps...Good day...Mark
