Backup in drain

Asked Mar 2, 2006, 08:38 AM — 1 Answer
I snaked my basement toilet drain - removed some baby wipes from it - thought it was clear, the water subsided - then I drained the upstairs bathtub and the basement toilet drain flooded again - what could be the problem? Emergency - please help asap.

Hi Cindy,
You have a blockage downstream from the basement toilet in the drain line. Are you on a city sewer or septic tank?
Your little drain snake isn't going to get this one. For a sewer main blockage you need a sewer machine.
But first you have to determine where the blockage is located, in the house main or the outside sewer line. If you feel capable of doing this yourself click on back, If not then I would suggest calling in a plumber. Regards, Tom
