When i have a shower or turn on the hot water there is a load noise each time. It seems to stop if i turn on the cold tap. Could you please tell me if it is an air lock and how can i stop it?
Many thanks

Hi Nita,

We need a few more details. From your question I assume that you have a two or three handle shower valve, (see image) does yours look like this?
This noise, is it a loud bang or thump or vibration like a squeel or shaking?
If it's a bang then you have water hammer but if it's a vibration you have a washer that's broken or a piece of trash that's vibrating as the water rushes.
It sound like you have aq vibration so I'l going t6o instruct you on how to remove it.
Shut the water off to the valve and take the hot water stem of the faucet apar and check the screw to be sure it's tight and the washer for wear or breaks. If the washer's worn or broken replace it. Before you reassemble turn on the water to flush out the supply of any crud that may be lurking in the pipe. Reassemble and test. Better now? Tom
