adding a bathroom

Ok , I am adding a bathroom to the back of the house... It is on the same side of the house as the septic Tanks.. The Contractor has laid the pipes to the septic tank but I did not see them put a vent pipe up..... Does not all baths have to have a vent pipe to work proper... It is at least 30 feet to the other bathroom where the vent pipe is... no way to actually hook into the other vent pipe...
Question::: is it possible for them to put the vent pipe just outside the back wall of the bathroom at the sewer pipe???
thanks
Melinda:

Hi Melinda,

It all depends on how the plumber installed the underground drainage pipes.
If the tub/shower was wet vented back to the lavatory drain line then only one vent is needed. This vent will come off the lavatory and can run up the back wall. Is there a tub dap-out, (hole in the cement with trap and raiser) and toilet and lavatory drainage rough ins? Who will be doing the work?. Regards, Tom

Tom, I wish I could draw you a diagram of the bathroom.... All wall are up..
the bath is 8 foot by 7 foot... in the right corner against the outside wall is the toilet..... then in the left corner against the outside and closet wall is the long shower... Then in the right corner on the other wall from the toilet is the sink.... they all hook together to the big sewer pipe that goes to the sepic tank.... which is just out side of the house behind the toilet... I hope this helps you understand where everything is...
All the walls have been finished and painted... Oh my what a mess...
I am really worried about this...
Thanks
Melinda

Good morning Melinda,

You've done a great job of describing the fixture placement but untill I know how the drainage's configured I can't be of much help. Are the stub-ups in place? Is there a tub dap out or a shower stub-up? When you say, "the bath is 8 foot by 7 foot," do you mean a custom shower or a specially sized bath tub or is that the room size? If the tub/shower's wet vented under the floor then all you will need is the lavatory vent to service the entire group. Who will be doing the work? The same plumber that did the rough in?
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, (Tom sighs!!) but I just don't have enough information. cheers, Tom
