gr 11 physics.. need help again

An amateur ball player runs at an average speed of 6.0 m/s between home plate and first base and 9.0 m/s between first and second. If the distance between the bases is 27.4 m and the base lines form an angle of 90 degrees, calculate his average velocity.

ans: 5.1 m/s [home to second base]

A diver on a high-diving board 3.0 m above the water springs upward with a velocity of 1.6 m/s [up].

a) With what velocity dose she hit the water? ans: 7.8 m/s [down]
b) What is the highest point above the water she reaches? ans: 3.1 m
c) If she walked off the diving board rather than springing up would she be travelling faster, slower, or at teh same speed when she hits the water?

Two men are bouncing straight up and down on a trampoline. The first bounces twice as high as the second.

a) Assuming no air resistance, find the ratio of the flight times for them between bounces. ans: 1.4/1

b) if one has half the mass of the other, will teh flight times change? discuss.

A cave explorer drops a pebble into a cavern to find how far it is to the water. The stone is heard hitting the water 1.8 s after release. If the speed of sound in the air in the cave is 345 m/s, how deep is the cavern?

ans: 15 m
