Worth getting digi camera fixed?

I have a Nikon Coolpix 5600 that my hubby and I purchased in 2005 from Best Buy. The camera's zoom is stuck (tried the new battery thing, didn't work) and the part that covers the lens broke off. I was wondering if it is worth it to try to find a way to have the camera fixed. We lost the receipt too!
I don't know how much camera parts cost and since it is 3 yrs old I was thinking we can update but my hubby is pushing me to call Best Buy to see what they suggest.

You will be better off buying a new camera. You should probably get a better camera than the 5600 for around $200.

I agree. Digital cameras are still changing at a rapid pace and a lot of improvements have been made in the past few years. Chances are high that you'll be better off just replacing it.
