Battery Problems

Okay I just bought a new Sony Cyber-shot [Model: DSC-S500] on Friday [11/24/06] and I tested it last night, it worked fine. But this morning it was out of battery so I bought new ones and in about 5 minutes said 'Low Battery'. Any comments or opinions on why it runs out so quickly?

Hi Mel,
What kind of batteries are you using, ordinary alkaline or lithium? Or nickel-cadmium rechargeable? In most digital cameras, you will get very few shots out of alkaline batteries. They are just not cost effective.

Either lithium batteries or rechargeable nickel-cadmium. I use rechargeable ones myself. You can get a recharger for about $20 typically, and the batteries can be recharged many hundres of times. With my camera, without using the flash, I can get about 250-300 photos on one charge. Disposable lithium batteries are excellent as well, but will end up costing more in the long run.
