tiny black bugs on the kitchen floor

I have these tiny, less than 1/8 inch black bugs on my kitchen floor. I can't really even tell where they are coming from. I have no food stored in any of the cabinets near the site from which they are appearing. The cabinet next to where they keep appearing just has cleaning products, sponges and dish detergent. There's 10 to 12 of them appearing daily. I don't really want to use random bug spray because we have dogs and cats. I live in Northern Arizona. Any ideas? The floor is tile if that helps.
thanks!

i am in arizona too and i get these often. they are small beetles. and are harmless. its not that they are attracted to any food you may have, they are attempting to escape the awefull heat. this is what the exterminator told me.

thanks, I've cleaned there very often, with bleach and 409. We're at 5700 feet if that adds more info. These bugs are kinda cruncy too. It has gotten very warm in the last few days, but I started noticing them 2 weeks ago or so. Yes we have A/C and just started using it. They also seem to die very quickly or might even be dead by the time they show up. Thanks for the info so far....

Jennie got the i.d. They are one of about 75 species of small invasive beetle species. The cabinet where they are appearing sounds like it might be close to some pipes; the beetles need water just like everything else. The sponges may have enough of a trace of moisture all by themselves to attract them.

Are there any ducts/vents close by there? Insects can crawl along the outside of the ducts and enter around the edges of the vent.

The bugs are short lived. They come from outside and live in the ground. They are small enough to wander through weather stripping gaps. They appear to travel randomly until they dessicate.

My bugs are appearing near the front door, which is near a cupboard that contains the washing machine and cleaning products...so there is a pipe there too - and last I noticed the pipe has some gaps - could that be the problem? I have also noticed them around my bedroom window and living room window...one flew onto my bed!
I have used bug spray, even a bug bomb spray and have bought window fly stickers...anything else i can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yours are likely to be a different bug. You should click on the button above this box that says "ask about pest control"
