I am not entirely sure what you are talking about. Do you have pets? Could it be fleas? Bed bugs maybe?

When checking Google for "black pepper mites" I came across both fleas and bed bugs.

The humand and animal host has many 'guests' and these are not new.

The enzyme in the link you provided is probably not a bad idea, but there is an enzyme already on the market that can also do the job, it is Quick & Brite. This is super biodegradeable and can be used to wash body and hair - it just is not as 'fragrant' as the expensive stuff.

I am not a sponsor for the product, but I have used it since I found it approximately 20 years ago.

I use this dissolved with water to clean Simba's ears (my daughter's cat), and then I place a few drops of olive oil to protect the cleaned ears from further sudden invasion.

It has been proven that if you wash the body's natural bacteria away too much and don't 'grease' it after the soapy invasion, the body is vulnerable to harsher invasions from all types of mites that are in the household.
So, my suggestion is to try a body lotion right after scrubbing for protection.

    Hope this helps.

I have this same thing in my home too. I been searhing all over the internet and no one really seems to know what to do. These things are so small you can't see them, they infest you rug, clothing, bed and they bite like hell. At least the ones I encountered do, we may not be taking about the same thing. Also, they seem to be able to move through the fiber of clothing and bite. I tried sleeping once completely covered and within a matter of minutes could feel them on my skin. If I stand barefoot on my rug, I can feel them crawling up my leg. The only way I've been able to get a good nights sleep is to spay the rug around the bed with insecticide then spay the mattress with insecticide (non-odor), cover it up good after and hour or so and then spray the sheets, covers, pajamas, and myself with rubbing alcohol. I also turn on my air and fan to make sure the room is well ventilated. The next day, the same thing all over again. Don't know what to do.

There are several websites that give good info. Use Sulfur Soap to wash up in the shower... Selson Blue shampoo... Kleen Green has helped me... there is Kleen Free and then the newer version Kleen Green.. I buy the concentrate 32 oz bottle and I fill spray bottles following the instructions and keep them all over the house and one in my car.. I use the spray on everything and it does not stain.. cover your mattress with a plastic cover.. I got mine at Wal-Mart.. wash your clothes and sheets with Borax or detergent and add 2 cups ammonia in each load.. these bugs love cotton or natural fabric. Go to the Kleen Green website to find out more mite info.

Oh my goodness. I have been battling these guys since we went camping in the summer. I thought they were lice, but there were no nits. I used at least 10 different types of pesticides and natural products, I would be clear for maybe a few hours - then I could feel them again. I went to the doctor also, who sent me to a specialist who thought I was imagining them because he couldn't see any legs. I didn't have very many then. I have had them under my nails, in my ears, in my nose (I see them when I blow my nose). I definitely know they are in my car and I see them on my clothes. I can feel them crawl on my face and if a use a wet kleenex to wipe where I feel them I always see little black specks. I would appreciate any help because My home is very infested and I can't possibly vacuum, scrub, and launder anymore!! I have ordered KleenGreen and I will let you all know how it turns out.

I just got your post... this is the beginning of a disease known as Morgellons... there are people everywhere that have it.. it is a bacteria or fungus that gets into the body if your immune system is not up to par.. then these mites are attracked to you and that is why you can have it and other members of the family do not.. Use the Kleen Green spray on you and all over your home and car and clothes..
Change your diet.. eliminate sugar and build up your immune system with every vitamin that helps it. I drink bottled water with lemon juice in it all day long.. this gets rid of the acidity in your body and makes it more alkaline which is what you want. In other words bring up your PH level.. I bought some books on it and followed the advice and felt better..
Join the website LYMEBUSTERS.COM it is scary when you start reading some of the things that have happened to other people because of this.. the CDC is now doing a study on Morgellons.. Florida is a hot spot for it as is California, I was living in Florida and started with the symptoms when I moved back to New England.
The info on the lymebusters website is very helpful.. I tried a new body cream that a member told me to use and I have had great success... Neoteric Diabetic skin care
Oxygenated advanced healing cream.. Target has it and so does Walgreen's... it worked so good... I put it all over my body after a bath at night and shower in am.. my scalp is the worst which is common.. lesions now and fibers started 6 months ago.. Read up on this.. if you are informed you can handle it better.. please keep in touch... Curly B

This sounds like bird mites or tropical rat mites. Check out the birdmites.org website.
I think it's important to find out which mite you're dealing with.

    Dear Curly,

Please tell me how you know that Black Pepper Mites are related to Morgellons?? I live in a small desert community in California and out of 80 people there are 4 definite cases and I see the signs on others yet to be diagnosed. Strange thing about my case is about 17 years ago I received multiple notes from my daughters school stating she had lice. She was treated several times and I was vigilant with the laundry. She suddenly developed other symptoms, fatigue, intestinal issues, loss of appetite and so on. All these are cause for alarm when you're talking about a previously very active 9 year old girl. I had the same thing. A nurse friend of mine told me to take her to the hospital and have her evaluated for a "Parasitic Infection" I did. And this is what scares me. They said we were being attacked by lint! This was long before there was any info on Morgellons available. They then put me in the psychiatric ward and put my daughter in a foster home. It took me three years to get her back! I've never complained again. My symptoms are back worse than ever now. I can't keep up with the laundry, scrubbing and cleaning either. I would be interested in your opinion of the products available. God Bless you and keep you. May we all find some relief soon. Keep in touch.

I recently started having the same issues, at first I thought the problem was because of fleas, but it just wasn't adding up. I decided to try KleenFree after doing some searching, and then I found this thread, I'm really dreading going through what everyone has. I'll be following this closely, Good Luck All

I had also looked at KleenFree and I am planning to order some in the near future. I am already on disability and money is short. The cost of trying to deal with this is steep! Whatever this is, it just seems to get worse.

I (and Artie, my dog) have resorted to "living" in my minivan. It's a little more comfortable than the house. At least a little easier to breathe in. I am seriously worried about Artie. He seems to be having respiratory problems in addition too the "Attack of lint" in his fur. We've had to watch the fur between the pad on his paws too. We are constantly removing excess "lint" and when we do the skin underneath is extremely sore. The first time I discovered this the skin was actually bloody. He has been "off his feed" and lethargic too. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

I have been researching home remedies and herbal cures for the symptoms. :)Personally, I found two things that helped with my hair and the itching. One was cold milk on a cloth, dabbed on the skin gave much needed relief from the itching. And listerine applied to the hair and scalp and then combed out seem to remove quite a bit of debris as well as calmed the itching. :(Tea tree oil does absolutely nothing!

:D Heads Up Everyone!! Harvard University is doing research and you can submit samples of what is biting you for evaluation for only 20.00!!! There is a deadine 1/12/2009 For additional information go to Accessing Headlice Information Sheet Hell it's worth a try!!

Take care everyone! Good luck! Maggie

I am dealing with the fruit rat mites as well (since I made history of their host). I have not found any thing that has rid my home yet. However, I do use De Flea Pet & Bedding Spray (natural). It seems to kill the ones that are on me and on the furniture at the moment. But does not rid you of the others and any new ones which I gather is hatching from old ones.

I do know that if you find the nest (which if in an attic good luck with insulation), you must get it out. But you still have to deal with the ones that left the nest and came in your home. Now wondering if the little guy needed to die. I am SERIOUSLY considering buying me a rat and letting it lose in the attic!

They are similar to bed bugs. But I believe these are Pepper Mites.

These are very close. However, another characteristic I have noticed is when you happen upon them (you can't see them), they seem to release something that affects your breathing. It is like a powder almost but too late once you come upon it.
