Is there any simple way to get rid of bed bugs? My boyfriend and I just moved recently a month ago, and have had I think an infestation of bed bugs. The bug looked much like a tick, so much I almost mistakenly thought it was.. . PLease help! I'm pregnant and don't want my baby to be exposed to this!

The best way is to get rid of the old mattress, and buy a new one after des-infecting the entire bedroom, including all sheets , deckbeds, pillows , cupboards, carpets, and under and around the bed.

Is your bedroom perhaps very humid?

    Success !

Sure, but it's costly and is not simple. Those bugs are very tenacious and will crawl into cracks and hide when the exterminator comes in. You have to wash everything you own that is washable in hot water and dry in a dryer while the home is being exterminated. It can take weeks to fully get rid of them. You could have picked them up while traveling and when you stayed in a motel or hotel they happily jumped into your luggage and came home with you. You have quite a chore ahead of you.

    Rent a steam cleaner.
Steam clean all creases of bed including box spring
Make sure steam temperature exceeds 150 f bedbugs are very temperature sensitive.

Then use a residual insecticide on frame, all dresser drawers, cabinet and baseboards. Remember these animals hide in any available crack .

Or hire a pest management association member licenced by your state to do a bedbug call combining steam cleaning and chemical treatment.
