Hi you guys!

Ok, so I'm looking for a new hobby. Problem is I dont really have any talent. There are things that I like to do though. I think sewing is interesting (I dont know how to sew anything) and I like to read.

Does anyone know of any other hobbies or ideas that maybe I could pick up on??

I really enjoy cross stitch, needle point, and latch hook. All are easy to learn. Costs vary on the patterns and materials from extremely cheap to very expensive.

Jigsaw puzzles can be fun. With the mounting boards and puzzle glues on the market, you can keep what you put together as art.

If you enjoy painting there are many different types from paint by numbers to paint pens that act like markers.

Then there is cooking and baking.

Jewelry making can be enjoyable and for some people profitable hobby.

Those are all great ideas Cat. But would there be any place I could go to learn how to do these things? Like cross stitch, jewelry making, etc

You can start out with the small cross stitch kits that have all the supplies you need in them and directions that tell you how to work them. Almost any pattern you pick up will have instructions and tips.

Most of the simpler needle point kits are plastic canvas which I personally don't like working with, but some of them are cute. Once again, all the information you need is included.

Latch hook kits usually have the canvas and the yarn, you will need to get a separate hook which is usually a couple of dollars at most. Instructions are included.

Jewelry kits abound that range from stringing beads to macramé (knot work). Once again everything needed in the kit and complete instructions.

Plus there are websites all over the Internet to give you free advice, patterns, tips, etc.

Oh ok. Where do you buy your cross stitch kits from?

Some stores like Wal-mart have a craft section. I recommend starting there for the simple low cost kits to learn on.

Then there are stores devoted to crafts and hobbies like Hobby Lobby and Michael's.

There are catalog/on-line companies like Herrschners.

Cross stitch is a form of embroidery. It is essentially making pictures out of X's. (There are a couple of other stitches but the X is what gives the technique its name.)
