Member’s Words Of Wisdom

I wonder if other members feel like I do sometimes -

Sad and a little overwhelmed at all the pain and confusion contained within these boards.

Do you feel like pouring every bit of knowledge and experience and wisdom you have out onto these pages in the hope that it may be of help to someone?

If so here’s your chance.

I have created this thread in the hope that you all will have some words of wisdom that you would like to contribute.

Life is only as complicated as you make it to be.
Take responsibility for your own actions.
Stay away from toxic people.

A Story For You -

The Big Rocks

One day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered over achievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz," and pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouth mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes." The time management expert replied, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?" By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good," he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?" "No," the class shouted. Once again he said, "Good!" Then he took a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?" One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit more things in it!" "No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. What this illustration teaches us is this: If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all. What are the "big rocks" in your life? Time with your loved ones? Your faith? Your education? Your dreams? A worthy cause? Remember to put these big rocks in first or you'll never get them in at all. So, tonight or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question, "What are the big rocks in my life? Then, put those in your jar first!"

A little different but I would say ALWAYS listen to your gut or your instinct. It will never lie to you, even if you want to avoid it or overlook it, when you have that feeling in you stomach that something's not right or that you should do a particular thing, follow that feeling.

You Always Have A Choice

If you want to see some changes in your life then make some changes in your thinking. Cultivate a good attitude, a positive attitude. I don't agree when some people say attitude is everything - but a positive attitude could save your life.

Each morning I wake up and say to myself, 'Okay, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' Guess what my choice was.

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. Guess what my choice was.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to join in the 'complaining' game or I can point out the positive side of life. Guess what my choice was.

A few years ago I lay in a hospital bed seriously ill, then I remembered that I had two choices, I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. Guess what my choice was.

Life is all about choices. When you get right to the bottom of it, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life.

Make a choice about your life and act on it instead of reacting to it.

They used to say that knowledge was power but I think knowledge overwhelmed and killed more people than choice ever did. Once you know that you have the choice to walk away from any situation - you really begin to live.

No, knowledge is power, and choices can kill people. Knowledge makes you aware of the world around you. Choices affect the world around you.

Much knowledge with no choices causes nothing.

No knowledge with many choices causes catastrophes.

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find anything that agrees with reason and isconducive to the good and benifit of one and all then accept it and live up to it.

Create Your Life From Within ~

If you want more success, focus on all the ways that you are already successful.

If you want more love, focus on all the people that already care about you and the abundance of love you have to give to others.

If you want to create greater health, focus on all the ways that you are healthy, and so on and so forth.

Your 'outer' life is a reflection of your 'inner' life. Recognize and focus on the abundance you already have!

All you really need to live is air, food, water and shelter. Everything beyond that is just gravy - Abundance!

The universe responds to our general 'state of mind'. If our general state of mind is always in a state of 'wanting' then we will continue to want. If our general state of mind is usually in a state of 'gratitude', then we will get more to be grateful for.

This doesn't mean you can't have desires. It just means you're not fretting over them. Whenever you have a desire, ask yourself what is the 'real' reason for that desire. What is your motive? Focus on creating more of that motive by appreciating how much of that you already have in your life.

Focus your imagination and efforts on creating the 'state of mind' that will spontaneously create the desired results. It is much easier to affect change internally because we are dealing with an aspect of the universe that we have some control over. We can't always control our outer universe, but we can, with some effort, control our inner universe. Remember, the 'world without' is a reflection of the 'world within'.

Man did you and I have a law of attraction moment. Long story short I just started a new job I hate and I have been dealing with some other personal issues for the last 2 weeks or so. Anyway, I've been really negative and this morning while working out while I was looking in the mirror I just said to myself, "You've had great successes in your life and if you'd focus on that and not the negative you'd have more success." I immediately started feeling better and then to come here and see that you've written exactly what I was just thinking an hour ago gave me a little more inspiration and reinforcement.

Now that more than gave me a chill. WoW.

Chuff you just keep thinking positive. And if you need a little more inspiration - think I will just give you a little reminder of all the great and wonderful things you have done and do, right here at AMHD.

You bring smiles to people's faces -
You lighten their hearts with incredible wisdom
and you give incredible and compassionate advice. And not as a hit or miss - you stick with them all the way to their new and healthy self.

Hey, nothing wrong with having a down moment or two - it's necessary and important because.....

It reminds us to focus on all the ways that you are already successful

Oh by the way - thanks for all the smiles you bring to all of us.
