    How to build confidence
Hey everyone. I have a problem with my confidence and I was wondering what you can do to build confidence. It's specifically when I talk to other people, I have no confidence when talking to someone and having a conversation with them. Also how can I give off a good vibe to people through bodylanguage. In other words what can I do to show a good body language? Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. :)

I am sure you have seen people who enter a room and even though they are normally dressed and nothing overtly special, you notice them. They exude confidence.

Their posture is good, their arms are at their side when talking to others, they do not cross their arms(closed body language)They are truly interested in what others have to say and their warmth is contagious.
    Good eye contact is important.

Often just adopting a more open body language will help you to feel more self assured.Be sure to nod your head when listening and show your interest.

There is also a technique called body mirroring where you duplicate the body language of the person you are speaking to.The psychology behind that is that you will trust someone who you feel is like you.

If I find myself in a situation where I feel like a fish out of water I give myself a mental pep talk. What works for me is *I am nice ,I am capable and I am as good as anyone else*.

Your personal pep talk would be those attributes that you know about yourself.

We all have value and we all have something to offer to others.Even if that is just being a good listener.I am a good listener and have made many friendships because of that.

Then there is always faking it.I was in sales for a short time and that was a strategy that worked for me,eventually if you fake it long enough ,it become real.

Remember ,the bottom line is ,you are a valuable human being and you do have something to offer.Believe it!

Another way to build confidence is to looking in the mirror (once a day, once a week, or once a month) and complitment something specific and new about yourself and focus on the positive!

Arty, the only thing that I would add is ask questions, people love to talk about themselves and they usually do not get the chance to do it. As the person answers your question show interest and ask another question. Also be observant, does the person have an unusual pin on, do you really like their tie, do you like her shoes... etc.

Although there are some that do not like to be touched it usually isn't a problem when a girl touches a mans arm while talking to him and making a point.

Posture is very important, and leaning slightly forward and slightly tilting your head to the side when listening displays interest.

Don't do any of these things in excess though, such as staring into their eyes and not blinking if you get my point. You may freak them out. (ha)
