Conflicted between socializing or not

5 Answers Hello everyone, here's my situation. I'm 20 years old, a student and I'm not exactly a social butterfly. I never had much friends and I don't talk that much. I prefer doing things alone but at the same time I get very sad cause I'm lonely and when doing things alone I don't really feel comfortable around people. Anyways and I have been invited to play in a band which I always wanted to do since I have this huge passion for music but I'm not sure if I should, actually I know it ll be a good opportunity but I don't really feel comfortable being around people again after a horrible social incident I had. Anyways what do you guys think I should do? Perhaps its time I get out there and start being around people again? |

| I definitely think that you should give the band a try. It may be hard the first couple of times, but honestly, nothing ventured, nothing gained. You won't meet new people unless you put yourself out there. Go for it! I bet you have groupies before you know it!  | ||||

| I agree with HC! You should give it a try! You can never gain/win etc if you don't try/participate. When I was a teen I had a very small group of friends, anyone outside that group of friends was without interest to me, today I'm def a very dif. Person... Lol this is not me trying to encourage you to b social, but rather to allow yourself new experinces. I believe that its an excelent way to grow. ;-) Best of luck | ||||

| I'm not a social butterfly either, so I know exactly where you're coming from. I do agree though that it may be time for you to step out of your comfort zone and pursue your passion. If you don't try it you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for years to come for not taking the opportunity! Take the chance! Go for it!   | ||||

| I used to be very introverted until I joined a band. That experience changed my life. I didn't really want to do it either but I went into the experience with an open mind. My best advice to you is to go out and try -- the worst that can happen is you'll learn more about yourself! Best of luck to you -- let us know how it goes! | ||||
