repaid sign-on bonus, employer refused to issue corrected W-2

I have a quick question for you: I repaid my employer the entire sing-on bonus including taxes when I left the company in the same year (2007) as I joined them, but the employer now refused to issue me a corrected w-2 reflecting the repayment and they reclaimed it's legal and they chose to do so. I'm very angry at what they did and would like to consult you with the legality of their action. Do you think I can take any legal action againest them? Thanks very much!
