Denied from Tax exemption

Hello,

I came to US from india on h1 visa - on 28th of november 2006. I placed the request for SSN after a week, unluckily i received in the month of january. After that my salary got processed.

Sad part is that i am not able to claim my tax as my dedember 2006 salary didnt come. it got processed in the month of january. I am denied of tax exemptions for 2006 a loss of approx 1000$.

Usually citizen receives ssn number within fortnight , if cause of delay is because of their process why should i suffer.

suggest me , how can i save my tax.
