    Abandonment
My father is married to his second wife and he doesn't want to lose the things that he has worked hard for. His wife leaves for days at a time and the last time was for 3 weeks. He doesn't know what to do. He isn't sure if it is illegal to change the locks, pack her stuff and put it in his garage or anything at all. When she ishome she comes in in the middle if the night and is gone in the morning. What can he do? Please help

No, he can't use "self help" and throw her out. He needs to file for divorce.

Why would he lose "things he has worked hard for"? In general the longer the marriage, the more he has to "lose." Easier to walk out with assets after two years than twenty.
