| | | My baby has colic
My first son had colic and putting him in the swing really helped him. Now my 3rd child has colic and Nothing works . . . swinging, rocking, driving in a car, prune juice, infant pain meds. The only thing that has helped a little bit is Karo syrup. Does anyone have any other ideas.
She is 5 weeks old and healthy.

| My son had inconsolable crying "colic" shortly after birth. The doctor put him on lactose free formula and it helped. He was also an early teether, 2 bottom teeth poked through at 8 weeks, which I feel contributed to his crying spells as well. Hope this helps a little.

| How long did the colic last? How many weeks was he when it finally stopped? Is he a happy baby now?? | |

| I was breastfeeding and she also had jaundice and it seemed like when I breastfed her she got worse and not as bad as with they soy formula that I use. Maybe I should choose milk based formula instead of soy. | |

| Before you go changing her formula on your own, you need to check with your peditrician. There are many formulas out there, and s/he may be able to recommend on specifically for your situation. | |

| I found the answer to my problem. I took her to the doctor- not only is she allergic to milk based formula she is also allergic to soy based formula. The doctor gave us 5 samples of a formula he said is hard to find and expensive but he said it would be the best for her. She did not have "colic" at all last night and has not been upset at all!! Yeah! | |

| Congratulations!! I am glad that is what it is.
Now, for a little advice if you live here in the U.S.
Get your doctor to write a prescription, since it is expensive, in that way your insurance may cover the cost of the formula.
I had to do that, the insurance did not want to cover the cost, but after my pediatrician's office had several conversations with the insurance company they invariably covered the cost 100% and even delivered a month's supply to my home each month.
