this may sound dumb but for some reason i have a fear of aliens. i have never been abducted or seen one, i've never even seen a ufo, but just the thought of other life out there somewhere is scary to me. i actually have two questions
1. Is there anyone else out there with the same fear as me?
2. Is there a term of fear of aliens. (eg. fear of spiders... arachnophobia)
1) I do not have a fear of aliens or other life. There is so much life even on our own planet that is still out there, undiscovered, etc...
2) I do not think there is a term to describe a fear of aliens.
Why do you think life else where scares you? Lots of movies have created an fear in people. Real life though, just like there is good and bad people. I would say that would be the same with any life else where.
I can't help you with request #1, but 'xenophobia' is defined as the fear of strangers, visitors and even aliens!
Any alien capable of reaching earth would be thousands or even millions of years ahead of us technologically! What could they hope to gain by messing with people on Earth? They're probably friendly things who might even want to help us! As for the evil resource-hunting kind, we're running out of oil, the ozone layer is disappearing and global warming is screwing with our climate. There's nothing the 'good' ones could want except for our friendship, and there's nothing at all for the evil ones to want! So don't worry! There's a hundred thousand things to worry about here on Earth
1. With how large the universe is it wouldn't be surprising if there's othe life out there
2. I think you call it Alienphobia since it's not a common phobia.
I have a fear of zombies and it didn't help when I found out they had a potion that could make you die and come back to life hours later, when thay talked about it they did mention zombie.
lets face face humans fear what we do not know, and we do not know if there are aliens, so naturallly we are afraid of it, and there are people with that fear.. i don't know if it has a name, just say to yourself "ok i'm afraid of aliens" then go on with your life, its not like they are going to abduct you, just move on
let me tell you something that is the truth .. im not saying that you should believe me but this is what i believe. people fear because of the devil .. the devil he makes you think of things that would scare you. and that's his work.. the work of a devil, as some may call it. do not let these thoughts scare you, because when they do, you are making the devil happy. The devil was the master of the choir in heaven, and one day he sinned and he vowed to destroy gods creation in any way he can. He makes people do very sinnful things. like abuse to others.. drink till people are drunk off there faces and so on and so forth. do not believe that there are other people or things or even other planets other than our own kind .. do things that make you happy, and if these thoughts are in your mind again do anything that would make you forget about it. im not saying that you have to believe me, im just saying that this is what helps me.. and that you shouldnt have fear of other things.. because this is the truth .. no matter what people say =]
i can tell you that i've gone through a transformation of some sort ever since i learnt that there are +- 400 billions stars in the Milky Way alone , which it self forms part of a clusters of superuniverses OR so does SCEINTIFIC Research tell us .You and i could be in the same league WHEN IT COMES TO THESE THINGS. Any human being who could advise other people not to worry and just carry on with their ' normal lives ' would be taking society backward by a million years. i think the discoveries of planets in other solar systems and the so-called " structures and objects made by intelligent beings " , for example, on the surfaces of Mars and the Moon, has fueled the fear that there may just as well be other lifes flourishing elsewhere in this vast infinity. To answer your first question i would say FEAR of the unkown makes us want to survive as a race and even those who choose not worry too much would be at rest if we all knew the correct answers ! Good thing is that some great ideas could have been borne from just this. I would be very uncomfortable if my fear had reached "phobic" levels just yet . there's good internet sites that contain lots of material so browse you might just stumble across there answers to your fear , good luck
