Data Recovery Software suggestions?

Well, looks like I'm hosed. I once sent a HD for data recovery and it cost me $600. I've googled data recovery software and am overwhelmed with the options.

Do any of you know of an app that you know is good?

Thanks!

Hi Rick,
Here is an excellent free one I've used on a few occasions with almost full recovery of the drive's contents, probably about 90% effective on average I've found. Though a few recovered archives were corrupt. I've never used anything else myself, so I can't really knowledgeably compare its results with others.

Thanks all. I did find time and time again that ontrack.com is the #1...so used their trial software - and confirmed it's a hardware issue.

...now seriously scratching my chin over whether I can get enough of my data from various sources to avoid sending it in and coughing up $600 or so to recover it

Data Recovery software is a cheap option as compared to data recovery services. You can use data recovery software in cases where your hard drive is working properly i.e platter is rotating without any noise.

There are lots of option in data recovery softwares, You can choose data recovery software on the basis of Operating system, file system...

Check the Various Option: Hard Drive Data Recovery Software Tools, Disk Recovery Utilities -Stellar

The software which I can recommend to You is Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery Software, I find this software as a good option. The best part of this software is this that you can see the recovered file in the Demo Version.

Best of Luck!
