Users have treid disabling firewalls also xp firewall and myself.
Now using port 21-21 ftp---22-31 for passive, got new message this time(Instant "FTP session was terminated).

Go to https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 and have it do a portscan of "all service ports."

Make sure your FTP port is open...

Sounds almost the same set-up with no problems reported here. Could it possibly be the client?

All the ports you mentioned, even the passive ones, are forwarded right? All of them are also allowed by zonealarm too? What error message appears for the users that it doesn't work for? Options, Try turning off ZA and see if it works. Try setting the server as DMZ and see if it works. If either of the two work, it will tell you which is blocking the comunication. Make sure the Client also turns passive on his FTP software or they will connect but they won't see any files.

yes i have dmz enabled also ports forwarded tried diff ports also, now back to original ports 20-21, like so

serv-u 20-21
pasv 2000- 2010

dmz
disable winxp firewall
upgraded zonealarm will have to further check that out. All i see is local net admin. none for wan.

(message says; cant access file or folder be sure you have permission to access files and file name is correct?)

check all settings for users and the are enabled for Dir and download rw so-on.

Sigh...

Running an ftp server under win xp == more trouble than it's worth

You need to take a look at your firewall logs (on the router), and see what's getting dropped. Can you connect (both passive and active FTP) from another machine on your LAN?
