Restore Windows Vista software

I use Windows Vista and appear to have lost the Remove Software from the Control Panel i.e. when I click on the icon nothing happens. Can I restore the software from the Microsoft wedsite (or any other way)?

start, programs, acceossories, system tools, system restore - choose a date when everything was ok and proceed, system will restart and hopefully things will be back

My system restore only goes back to 27 May and restoring that point makes no difference. It looks like I might need to reinstall the Windows software.

Try this press the WIN key + R and a run menu will pop up then in the run menu type this command. sfc /scannow. make sure you have the vista install disc handy. you shouldnt need the disc but just in case. that should fix it as it fixes problems like this. takes about 20 minutes.

Sorry, I typed in sfc /scannow but nothing appearted to happen.

I have checked again and still no result. When I click on uninstall, I get the confirm box but then nothing happens. It would appear that the system starts the process but then drops out.
