firmware for mp3 player

hi i have a creative zen sleek v0.0.7 with a firmware problem and when i turnit on it comes up with recovery mode and a list to choose from
1. clean up
2. format all
3. reload firmware
4. reboot

ive tried clean up and format all and rebooted after each
but when i select reload firmware it says erasing firmware then start firmware uploading now, but the problem is when the menu is on it wont connect to the computer which i presume is how im going to upload the firmware, even if i plug it in when its turned off it turns on when plugged in and hence goes straight to the menu which prevents it from connecting some how.
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
