If I remember correctly, the file sharing program, Kazaa, had a program in it that would compress and uncompress files into mp3. That was the older version, prior to Music industry's law suits. You still would need WinRAR to open the file. If you can come across an older version of Kazaa you should be able accomplish what you want. I haven't used the new Kazaa, so I do not know if it still has that capability. Good Luck
The RAR format is used in Newsgroups.It can compress large files (movies) and MP3's.

As Wendy advised,stay away from Kazaa.You dont want spyware on your PC.
