Growth of microorganisms

I need some advice on making stubborn yeast grow again! ???
I'm trying to grow up very old yeast cultures (about a year) but with no success so far.
I've tried Yeast Malt (YM) broth (containing Yeast extract too) supplemented with vitamins
and pH lowered to 5.5
I've even tried streaking them out on normal YM plates
I'm really despirate to make them grow and any advice would be appreciated.
