12 to 24 inch diameter parabolic reflector

Asked Mar 31, 2009, 11:33 PM — 11 Answers
Does anyone know where to get a "Deep 12-24 inch parabolic aluminum or steel mirrored reflector" ? Many of the science or lighting labs I find, don't seem to have "deep" dishes, only shallow ones with a small hole in the bottom. I need a bigger hole such as 3 inches or more. Glass is okay, such as from an old traffic light reflector.

I really don't know.

Have you tried ebay?
Or maybe there's a forum somewhere for collectors of old traffic lights?

What's it for?

I ground a parabolic mirror out of porthole glass once, but that's not going to help you...

These guys Oriel Sales use them in their solar simulators. It's a deep parobolic reflector, metalized aluminum, I believe, but they might cost you about a grand.

I have a 24 inch glass mirror with a short focal length about 18 inches. It weighs about 80 lbs. I could let it go.

More info 24 inch mirror. It came with a corrector plate, half inch glass. The mirror has about a 3 inch hole in the center, I think it was made for some sort of projector.
