urgent : Guinea Pigs skin problems

Hi all,

I hope someone can help!

Ive had 2 guinea pigs now for around 2 or 3 week, they live very happily together in a large hutch in a shed in the garden, they also play out during the day in a large run.

When I went in today to check on them I noticed one had a very sticky eye, I immediately phone a rescue centre for adivce and was told just to bathe it with warm salt water until It goes it is due to a draught, I feel so guilty so have now made a flap to fit over the hutch at night for added protection.

As I was bathing wooly's eye I noticed he and cotton had little flaky pieces behind their ears and on their necks, this resembles Eczma? Is there anything I can use to treat this as I phoned the vet who told me to use salt water again, but can I use Vaseline to help speed up the healing??

I dont think theyre fighting as I sit outside the hutch every night for around half an hour, when I put them away and havent heard any aggresive noises.

If these problems dont go on there own I plan to take them both to the vet , but as the vet said, Im going to gove it 7-10 days.

Any advice will be appreciated.

P.S they are both only a month or so old and are both Males (from the same litter)
