I feel a bit foolish having to ask this but here it goes. I have three rabbits, two are definetely male (otherwise neutering them was a big mistake, ha, ha) but the third was given to us by a friend of a friend because they didn't want it anymore. The sex of the other two was easy to verify but the third has an unusual amount of fur that covers up the area I have to look at, I've even tried feeling around for the scrotum but I can't tell if it's there or not. One thing that I did notice is that this bunny has nipples whereas my other two (definetely males) don't have nipples. I looked it up on the internet and found a site that said that only female rabbits have nipples, but the vet aid (not the vet) at my vet clinic said that "as far as she knew that wasn't true". Does anyone positively without a doubt know whether only female rabbits have nipples? Please help, it's driving me crazy.
True story:
My friend's 20 something daughter gets a rabbit. Loves the little thing. Notices it has a lump in its abdomen and is concerned that it's sick. After looking up treatments for all sorts of rabbit ailments, (presumably a webmd for bunnies) she rubs it with a q tip and anti bacterials for a week. It doesn't appear to be in any pain, and seems to lay very still when being treated several times a day.
Finally an exhasperated mom consults the local farmer, who can still be heard laughing down the block as mom leaves his property in a bit of a huff.
Turns out rabbit is fine...it's a male, and Miss 20 something has been, eh, pleasuring it for over a week.
Guessing a lump in the lower abdomen when rubbed is a good indicator.
That lump is probaly just a fat pocket it wont harm the rabbit my dog had one on hes stomach it doenst harm them according to my vet but they can get bigger. If your worried you can get it removed from your local vet

That's the problem, if there is a lump(s) (which would be the rabbits testicles) then I would have no problem determining if its was male or female, but there's so much fur that even feeling around doesn't tell me anything. Besides, if the rabbit is male and has been neutered then the testicles shrivel up and could no longer be felt. I do like the story about the 20 year old and her happy bunny though. I guess I'll just have to take the poor bunny to the vet, regardless of the sex I will get he/she fixed to prevent health problems and aggression. Thanks for all the advice.
