Guppy Possibly Pregnant

Hey guys, a couple weeks ago I got some new fish. Two of which were guppies. One male and one female. Unfortunately a fish my dad bought for me the other day killed my male guppy. I took the fish out and gave him away. Anyway my female guppy is still very strong and today when I was watching her, I noticed she had blood, or red substance under and around her Gravid Spot. Could this mean she is pregnant, or perhaps ill???

Thanx

When my guppies were pregnant I don't remember any red spots... mine just got bigger bellies and you could see a dark mass inside (the fry)

It's possible that she might have been bitten by that evil cichlid?

Do you have a breeding trap?

If not I would recommend buying one, they aren't expensive.
Make sure you buy the hard plastic type with the reservoir at the bottom, not the net ones!
The hard plastic ones enable the babies to fall through the gaps and into the reservoir at the bottom away from the mommas hungry mouth.

Even if she isn't pregnant it's a good idea to keep her separated from the other fish in the breeding trap until she heals or you figure out what's going on and the other fish don't annoy/stress her out.

Good luck, I hope she either a) gets better soon or b) pops out some cute little baby guppies for you!
