dc.exe - DLL initialization failed on shut down

I have window xp installed on my Lenovo Laptop. Till yesterday my system was working fine. I first got a warning message of low internal memory which I overlooked.
Now I am unable to shut my system. When I try to shut it a message reads "dc.exe - DLL initialization failed. Then screen becomes blank but does not shut down. I then have to shut it by pressing the on/off button.
Stored data files are taking very lomg to open.
Please help me in resolving this issue.

Praveen

It seems to be some type of malware, once system is up and running

-Start, run, type msconfig
Hit enter
-Go to startup tab and look for dc.exe line and uncheck if there
-Also look for fun.exe to see if that is there also and uncheck if there
-Click Apply

Choose Exit Without Restarting

If these 2 files exist, they are usually located here
C:\WINDOWS\system\Fun.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dc.exe

Delete these files if they exists, if they can not be deleted, Restart in Safe Mode and then delete these 2 files

How to get into safe mode

Restart PC and
Quote:
# Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
# Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
# Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
After files have been deleted, Restart PC in Normal Mode (as usual)

Now download/install and run this:
Malwarebytes.org

Let it delete/fix whatever it finds

When that is done, restart computer

Should be OK
