You will however Still have to make a few trips and having a child is no excuse. They could care less after all that is why most folks are applying and that is part of motherhood traveling and taking care of things with a child.
According to the info for CA DSS They do provide a program that while you are getting help assists you with education and a job as well as child care So maybe Ca is different from MD Ours makes you do a week long class and than basically says go get a job best you can and have proof you did 10 job interviews every week and if ANYONE even low paying offers you a job you MUST take it no matter if it will not even cover transportation and child care or rent You MUST take it and must work 20 hours a week or be seekign work.
So maybe they offer you all more out there
Let them know that you are supposed to pay your grandmother for food and provide rent (after all that is only right)
I am unsure of it is this way in Ca as it is in MD but here when you ask for help they will do the testing of both possible daddies and will than go after that man for support.
They pay.
As far as the excuses about the baby That is life as a Mother You learn to deal with your needs while still caring for a child
MANY people go to social services with babies and kids many have a play room BUT non where I live provides day care so you may want to ask a friend or grandmom to babysit while you do what you have to do. Again this is part of being a Mother juggling and multi tasking
I would really look into getting a GED since you are under age they will in fact NOT charge you in many states to get a GED.
It is a good thing to have though
You can also apply to go to a community college and get a work training grant and work get paid and get a education many times they have a family partner ship organization that will pick up teen moms take them to a place they will get parenting classes, GED classes (childcare transportation and lunch is provided) Maybe your state has something like this to help you get on your feet a bit.
Try doing a Google search for Teen mother programs for your county
Also look for a adult education center for more info on the education things
All these services are likely found with a Google search with your county and state added
Happy to help you if you need it
Good Luck
