i received aletter that states final award winnin notification check enclosed it is from a computterized ballot system drawing rom readers digest for 48,000 the check is for 3thousand claiming that the check covers both adminstravive and clearance fees for the winning of 48,000. i called they number they told me to deposit the check then call them back so the can send the rest o f the winnings scammmmmm or what?

Yes, you are being scammed,

What happens, is they want you to cash the check, then they will want you to send them the money by money order or by western union.

Then in about 2 to 3 weeks you find the check they wrote you bounces and you end up owing the bank back all that money, and the bank tells you if you don't pay them back, they will file criminal charges for fraud.

They would not send you a check for fees, they would send you the winning check and just deduct the fees.

this is one of the oldest scams out there,
