Ever find out someone died, but not right away, like years down the line?

I just found out today that mitch hedberg died. I know I am late, really late, but I don't ever remember hearing anything about that. And it really took me back. He was my favorite comedian. I really do love comedy, just I didn't know that these people had websites and stuff. It just never occured to me to check. The only reason I had found out is because, I was researching something about pringles and boom I tagged his link in that article and then when the wikipedia page for him showed up it gave a death date and that freaked me out. I was taken back. I just didn't know, and I kind of feel bad for it. Somehow like I should have known, but not once do i remember hearing anything about him. Mind you I was very busy last year, with gaming and what not, I'm retired now, but back then i didn't know anything really, I just spent so much time working at that, that I didn't have time for current events. Unless the eeked into conversation. Either way I feel a little sad for not have knowing. It just kind of get's underneath your skin, a little bit. He really was a great comic, and I read the article on entertainment weekly online, and that was a really nice piece, but it's just sad how he went. This had happened to me once before, I watched the CROW the first time a couple of years ago, and it was only a few months after that, did I find out that brandon lee, the main character, had passed away during the shooting of the movie. I think it's just strange how that happens, you become aware of something great, and then you find out it no longer exists.

I am sorry for your loss.

It happens. We are busy, someone dies, we miss the headline in the news.

Not that I am trying to downplay your experience at all.... but it seems that its one thing to happen to someone famous that you know about... and its a whole other thing to happen to someone you loved and cared for.

This had happened with me and an ex-girlfriend of mine. I didnt find out that she had dies until close to a year after.... and we all live in a fairly small town. And when she died, he and her boyfriend were at a place called Dear Creek Falls (a place on a river with cool waterfalls and pools to swim in). "Apparently" her and her bf feel asleep there and she either slept walked or rolled off the cliff she was asleep on in nothing but her panties.

That was really wierd to find out.

Theres a strange thing about the town I live in... Ive always wanted to do a study on it. For the population here, we have experienced a seemingly HIGH percentage of teen deaths, my generation especiallly.

OHHHHH Don't get me wrong, I am not weeping, or crying terribly, I am a little disheartened. Captain forest got it right, you just seem to miss it, I was merely commenting on the fact that this happens to me, and I was curious to see if anyone else had similar experiences. He was a great comedian, and he will be missed, but I didn't know him, however I do feel sorry for his loss. I am sorry for what happened to you Dr. J, it has to be tough when you know them personally. I am little curious, to how she actually passed on, it doesn't seem logic to sleep walk off of a cliff. I think you "apparently" agree as well. And exactly how many teens have died?

Wizz do you know what the main reason of deaths are in your area ??
Yes I do, hamburgers, heartaches, and heartbreaks.

Honestly though, I am curious to know what is the main cause Dr. J.

Yeah, none of it seemed logical to me. I was prety upset to find out about it. The cause of death was the impact of hitting the bottom of the cliffs. But to just sleep walk or roll off a cliff seems unlikely to me. However, by the time I had heard of it, the case was closed with no foul play suspected. The boyfriend was related to an officer of the City Police... go figure.

Anyway, there isnt just one overall maiin cause of deaths. There have been murders, suicides, drinking and driving accidents, strange (almost unexplainable) deaths, accidental deaths, people hit by cars on the side of the road... it goes on.

I dont know the figures, which is why I would like to research it and maybe devote a section of my website to it.

We first started noticing it when I was in highschool. We had 16 kids in 12 months in our highschool. Now, that may not seem like a lot to many but mind you, we are a very small community where you know just about everyone. I knew each of those 16 kids along with what now seems like 50+ more that have died since then (all in my generation). Im 28 years old.

No dude, this SEEMS LIKE A LOT, LIKE WAYYYY TO MUCH, I live in a town of 100,000+ with two highschools, and last year we had two freshman die, and we thought that was a lot. Seriously that is something you need to check into that is a lot of deaths.

Yeah, our population now is about 17,000 so back then, I'll bet it was around 10,000.

Its a strange phenomenon... which is why I'd really like to do a study on it, research each death of kids between the ages 14 & 25 in the past 15 years... see if I can find some strange corrolation between them all.

I'll definitely post it here if I ever do that. I think it would be interesting to see and compare to other cities... big and small
