Wrong date on court summons for traffic violation
I was pulled over December 27th, 2009 for a burned out headlight. Turns out my license had expired and I did not realize. I thought I had till my birthday to get it done which is in January. Anyway, the police officer said I had to go to court to talk to the judge and he gave me a court date of February 2, 2009. Does this invalidate the summons?

    Thank you.

Minor issues, such as a dating issue, wrong address or color of car almost never makes a ticket invalid, Also they officer could easily merely issue a new ticket.

No, that means that is the first available date that the court had to hear your case if you choose to argue.

Get your license renewed, contact the prosecuting attorney for the state and try to negotiate. Usually if you pay the fine, they'll amend the ticket to something less serious.

EDIT: Just had it pointed out to me that you thought the ticket was invalid because the officer wrote 2009 instead of 2010. No, that would certainly not invalidate the ticket just as it doesn't invalidate a check you write and accidentally put the wrong year.
