If he also did some crime, often the "witness" also serves some time in prison. The majority of witness protection people are also criminals who are given protection for their testifying.

But if he is going into the program, he is not "getting" out, and normally if he was going to take you with him, you would have already been init with him.

The main question is it the Federal program or a state program.
If he is in the program now he should not be contacting you now either.
But yes, he drives away and never contacts family or friends again ever.

But normally they are hidden with no contact during the trial also, and then moved after the trial.

He is free of course to leave the program, if he wants, I know some that were in the program for a short time and then went home.

Hi. Thanks for your prompt reply. He is in federal program not state based. He contacted me at the beginning and now he does not contact me. There is possibility that he might be gone by now with new identity. Who knows.
What happens to people who were in the program for a short time and then went home? Did they get harmed?

One lived a happy life and died of old age ( he was already fairly old when he went into the program) another died of a mystery lung dease, and another died of a bullet. Those are the only ones I know of, but then I did not know what happened to most like this.

I was invovled in helping to train those that were also criminals and had to serve some time in prison thierself, in learning a new job. So they were given a new identy to be in prison with, and after leaving prison would get a new id then.

All were in protectivie custody during the trial, normally keep in a safe house or a hotel/motel somewhere. After the trial, they are set up with a new ID, new job and so on.

They are told not to contact anyone for their protection and the protection of the other party.
