social security

my mom and i came to america 7 yrs ago. she worked in a nursing home for 6 yrs then became disable by a fractured hand and a dislocated knee. tried to apply for her social security benefits, but they won't give her any because she's only a residential alien not a citizen. is there any other way i can get help for my mom
