    Civil court for unsecured debt
In the state of Tennessee on an unsecured debt, what can they attach. I do not have a bank account. Can they take my personal household items?

Yes, but I don't know that anyone bothers - and it is a bother - other than to prove a point. They can also file a garnishment of your wages. Here's the Law:

"Personal property to the aggregate value of four thousand dollars debtor's equity interest shall be exempt from execution, seizure or attachment in the hands or possession of any person who is a bona fide citizen permanently residing in Tennessee, and such person shall be entitled to this exemption without regard to his vocation or pursuit or to the ownership of his abode. Such person may select for exemption the items of the owned and possessed personal property, including money and funds on deposit with a bank or other financial institution, up to the aggregate value of four thousand dollars debtor's equity interest. Tenn. Code Ann. _ 262102. "

Yes, they can, with the exception of some of the payday loan places I am not aware of anyone actually doing it ( in the area I used to live)
