Law on how much roommates pay per square foot?
In San Francisco, I'm currently paying a $1,000 for two rooms while my other two roommates are paying $650 each for two rooms each, and they have two of the biggest rooms in the house.

One of the roommates is moving out, and my rent is going down to $750-$800. My roommate and I (his name is on the lease) are looking to charge $850-$900 for the third roommate, but now there's concern that there's some mysterious law out there that the rent amount has to be more proportioned in relation to square feet. Is this true?

I know you do a lot of things differently in CA, but I have never heard of anything like that. Usually, the only time I hear about dollars per square foot is in commercial leases. I think you are safe to charge whatever the market will bear.

From my understanding, no matter where, you can charge whatever you want. It just depends if someone is willing to pay that amount.

In the good ol' US of A we have what is called a free market economy. That means sellers can charge whatever the market will bear.
