    Neighbor harassment
I have a neighbor who is an adult and has three minor teenage daughters. Her youngest daughter is fourteen. I have a daughter who is thirteen and has epilepsy. The neighbors daughter is constantly threatening and harassing my daughter. The moment she walks outside to play with her friends she is being called all kinds dirty names and threated to be beaten up. The teenage girls mother has also threatened to beat my daughter with a cane. I have pressed charges on the girl for putting her hands on my daughter last week. Today, the mother threatened her. This has been going on for months now. Today I call the police and they pretty much told my daughter to stay away from them. The thing is... she has been! She only plays in our yard and in another friends yard and there is an adult there at all times. I am at my wits end with this. This child has been in the juvenile courts time and time again and is currently on probation. All I want is for the teenager and her mother to leave my daughter alone. Oh yes also, the mother tells her daughter to go after my daughter. I feel like I am getting nowhere. It is not fair to my child to cage her inside the house for the rest of the summer. There is no use in talking to the other child's mother because she wants to fight with everyone. Isn't there a law against this? And why if this child is on probation isn't the law doing anything to help keep my child safe? Why would the police allow this child's mother to threaten my daughter and get away with it? Just for the record every time a threat is made or the girl has put her hands on my daughter there was at least one adult present.

If you have witnesses that this girl has physically attacked or harassed your child, then you need to go to the police or prosecutor's office and swear out an assault complaint.

I can understand the police viewing this as a juvenile spat, but, from your account its gone beyond that, and you now need to take it a higher level, before someone gets really hurt. But you need proof. You need multiple witness testimony add other proof.

I say invest in a camcorder. Take a few video shots, or pull out your cell phone camera and record this behaviour. If they come on to your property to harass your daughter, they are trespassing on top of it. By the way, in most states, the mother may have committed aggravated assault by threatening serious bodily harm against your daughter because she is over 18 and your daughter is under 14, and threatened to hit her with a "weapon." That may be a felony.

Also, you will need to list the names of the adult witnesses in the criminal complaint or have one or two of them go to the police office with you.

    Just be careful.
