| Live in CA-my father got a cross complaint summons. He's a 83 year old retired tile setter and only does one or two jobs a year. He gets paid for labor only. He just received a cross plaint suit from a contractor who he did work for over 2 yrs. ago. The owners of the home are suing the contractor for $200K and in return the contractor is suing 6 people including my father who did the tile in the kitchen. In the paperwork it says it was due to a slip sheet that make the marble crack. He's done work for over 30yrs. He's never had anything like this happened to him. My father speaks little english and were seeking any kind of help. Does he have a chance to have this law suit dropped? Does he have a chance to fight this? He's on a Social Security fixed income that pretty much pays for his condo. He asked a lawyer and told him he could get this law suit dropped if he paid 15K otherwise he would have to claim bankrupcy and pay the lawyer $300.00 to reply to the summons and see what the judge decided. I believe the contractor wants all 6 people pay for the $200K plus attorney fees. My father's labor was only a total of $3000. What should we do? |
