Hello...my husband has been teaching at a school for 6 months. (he has been a teacher for 20 years at other schools).....He did not like the school he was teaching at for 6 months, so he gave notice in May that he is quitting on June 30th, when the semester ends.....On June 1, when all the kids were leaving the classroom, one kid stayed behind and hid in the cabinets. My husband washing out his thermos of protein power in the classroom sink. The kid emerged from the cabinet and ran out of the room. My husband ran after him and told him not to hide in the cabinets. The kid then said, "What were you doing with the sink, "going to the bathroom" and my husband said NO I wasn't doing that at all......The kid spread it all over campus to the principal that my husband WAS going to the bathroom in the sink.
QUESTION FOR YOU----My husband was put on administrative leave on June 2 so investigation can concur...(remember my husband had already had a QUIT DATE of June 30th)....So...IT IS THE KIDS word against My husband's word......The kid did NOT SEE ANYTHING while he was in the cabinet with the cabinet doors shut...aLL HE HEARD WAS WATER RUNNING.....sO.....what happens next???? Is there so court case out of this or what? We are as mad as hell here.
I do not see a court case coming out of this. It is strictly the child's word against your husbands. How old is this child anyway? Age may have some bearing. Your husband has 20 years experience behind him and that will probably speak for itself.
I understand that there must be an investigation, but that is how things like this are handled. We have to look at whether or not this child has any kind of record in the school system. They will want to weigh both sides before coming to any kind of decision.
Even if he was, there would be no court case, an hearing if it comes to it would be with the school board to see if he violated school policy.
Sadly there will be those that will always beleive this happened, no matter what is decided.
Sadly what will most likley happen is that it will be closed because there is no proof, it will never say he was not guilty of it, merley that there was no proof.
If he is gong to continue teaching, I would hire an attorney at this point, to represent him. Also consider civil action against the child and his parents.
I assume he is getting paid on this Administration leave.
So, take it with a grain of salt, enjoy the vacation.
His word (of 20 years experience) vs. a child. Come on, there's no evidence, he will be cleared.
No court case, but there might be a school board hearing.
And I don’t recommend suing the kid or his parents.
He will eventually be re-instated, and when he does, just moved past this issue. After 20 years, I am sure he knows that some kids lie or mis-interpret things.
Being put on leave MEANS that they believe the kid and not your husband. You have every right to be angry. I would absolutely hire a laywer to protect your husbands reputation. That's all he has, you know.

I was a high school math teacher for 13 yrs, also a Vice-Principal for about a year, before changing careers.
I wouldn't worry about it.
If anything comes of it, wait until you know the outcome.
If it means anything happening to his career, then hire a lawyer, see what your legal options are.
Probably nothing will ever come of it.
