Debtor's prison ceased to exist in the 19th century. You will not be jailed or arrested for failure to pay a debt.
It is not a good idea to ignore a summons. If you have no assets they you may be judgement proof so even if they get a judgement they can't do anything with it. But your best bet is to show up for the hearing and make sure the debt is valid. If you lose you would have lost anyway. |
