How to Get Emancipated in Indiana?

Okay, So my friend is in a pretty bad situation with her mom right now and wants to get emancipated. How does she go about that because she has a 2year old and lives with her parents. She has no job and no where to live besides with her "boyfriend" in California but other than that she is 17. Are there any specific laws for the state of Indiana? What are the steps of getting emancipated? She really needs to get out, but I dont like the idea of her leaving to California with a guy she has yet to meet but she talks to every day via phone. What should happen?

I think she is going about this the wrong way but if she is really serious and has some money behind her she can find a lawyer and file a Petition for Emancipation from her parents. Sounds rather extreme. Where did she get the idea ?

As for moving out to California to live with someone she has only spoken to is a real stretch of the imagination.

Has she considered getting a job, living as a single parent, becoming financially independent and moving on with her life and that of her daughter ??????

The criteria for emancipation are the ability to live by oneself and support oneself. Your friend clearly doesn't qualify. She has to get a job and show she can afford her own place before she can think of emancipation. By that time she will be 18 and can do what she wants anyway.
