debt collection

wondering if there was a time limit a business can collect on a debt. i received a bill from and urgent care facility from jan. 3, 2005. all this time thought insurance pd it. now we dont' even have the same insurance company they said it cannot be sent to secondary because primary did not respond 3 times. i don't get it

Yeah, I don't get it either, but you still owe the debt. There is no statute of limitations on a debt.

Ok, first you can sue the first insurance company, and/or file a complaint with the state board of insurance, it does not matter that you don't have them, you HAD them at the time that the claim was made.

but you will still owe the urgent care if your insurnce did not pay, I doubt if 2 years is over any statue of limitation for a medical debt.

Also if it was over the SOL time frame, it does not mean you don't owe it, it does not mean they can't send you bills for the rest of your life, and does not mean they can't try and collect, all being over the SOL means is they can not sue you in court for a judgement.
